Its a Wonderful Life - Praying to God
I’m in a situation like this rn. I really need God’s help. Please pray for me. I’ll also pray for anyone else who would like a prayer as well.
May God help you! He will show you the way. May God provide peace for you and wisdom. I pray for mercy and grace from Jesus for you!
@@ceballosfamily2807 thank you for the prayer 🙏🏼. It didn’t work out, but it came and passed. I thank God that the situation didn’t finish worse than how it was already. God is good.
The best piece of acting to ever exist!
This has touched me since I was a child. I watch this every Christmas Eve. Back when Hollywood was a much different place.
A little known piece of trivia about this scene in Martini's bar is that Adriana Caselotti, who was the voice of Disney's Snow White, is seen seated behind George. It's her voice that is heard singing in the background.
You can definitely see Stewart’s wartime PTSD manifest here. Not just the tears, but the arm jitters and the stuttered breathing. My buddies who came back from combat used to act this way.
Did you know: In most of the alternate reality scenes Jimmy Stewart was sweating profusely for real they film them in the studio in the summer on a 110 degree day in winter clothes with no AC. Stewart of course delivered the scene perfectly despite the obstacles but you and I who watch that Spirit filled film don't know the difference.
The Lord Is Only A Prayer Away. . . .
This is me right now.
Does anyone know the song that’s playing in the background?
To see what Stewart went through to some extent watch the 1949 epic Twelve O Clock High. If General Frank Savage isn't Stewart - I don't know what. That film used to be shown at military academies and even companies on how to be a leader and the toll it takes on men. Gregory Peck plays Savage but - Jimmy Stewart lived the part in real life. Film is stunning - the war scenes real as planes do bombing runs and very young men die while others were mentally destroyed and others - hunkered down and got in with things. Twelve O'Clock High one of 3 best war films ever.
I learned something from the Heartwarming page of It's A Wonderful Life on TV Tropes: after George is finished praying, his friends show up to offer help and concern, and when he gets punched, practically everyone around him checks on him to make sure he's ok. THAT was the real answer to his prayer, he was just too depressed to see it.
If you’ve ever suffered with depression or had thoughts of suicide (however briefly), then this short scene just hits you so hard. A beautiful and raw performance from Stewart too.
There is just no words for this scene and movie. Just heartbreaking and then breathtaking
This resonates with me. Working 3 jobs to provide for my family. Dealing with economic uncertainty in the USA. George’s desperation is too real.
Hope you are doing fine my man! Prayin for u from Turkey 🙏
This is as real as it gets, the horror of his service, what they call ptsd, shows in his eyes
Mr. Bailey's apealing to the right One, "Dear Father in Heaven..🙏"
There should be more movies about suicidal people rising from the darkness and discovering the beauty of life once again.
His prayer was answered.
I'm about to kill myself and feel the same way... I wish there was a God
I hope you’re still alive
@@GoldJerryGold Things have gotten a lot worse, so barely. My fate will be determined in the next few days.
I have always remembered this part of this scene, where all of us felt his pain, his anger, his depressions, and god listen 👂.
The song is by Vincent Scotto: "Vieni Vieni" sang by the woman behind George (Jimmy Stewart). She is no other than Adriana Caselotti, Snow White, the first Disney princess. If you want to see how the blonde Snow White looks like, well - here she (Simone Simon) is ua-cam.com/video/D2AgjjMH2Bk/v-deo.htmlh10m51s
This scene, this film in general, but this scene in particular I think strikes a chord that goes beyond cinema, beyond film or any modicum of art or artistic expression. Regardless of religion or beliefs or value systems: suffering is essential to living. Establishing a bottom to the weight of the chaos we tolerate and experience and live through from life. And the rock bottom that George reaches here, this is so important to understanding that to love, and to feel, and to test the limits of one’s understanding of suffering and how it applies to a life that can only be lived by us, alone, individually, we need to hit rock bottom. We need to establish margins of pain and suffering, and the deeper that goes, the higher we climb when things are good. When life is better, when things are easier and when people are kind. We need moments like what George experiences because moments of pain and yearning and suffering are just as important as our moments of happiness, and it’s the realization and acceptance of our collective journey as human beings, what we’ve gone through that aids us when coming full circle with the moments in our life that are truly wonderful.
😮
I am no religious but I think the reason George was saved was because he was indeed a good person and the prayers were answered because George deserved the help for everything he had done. George could had traveled the world as he originally planned, but he selflessly helped others over himself. Had it been Potter, the Gods in heaven would had been more than happy to send him to Hell for his evil deeds.
This is me rigth now 😢
Everything will be alright, friend. God is always present and no matter how bad things may look, He will use this situation you are at for something important. Sometimes it is hard to see what good can come out of many of our troubles, but God always turn things around for a purpose. God will give you a way to handle this situation, the path may not be easy or the most comfortable, but a path through where you will learn something valuable. God may not tell us the "why" some things come our way, but He has given us the "How" to push through it. You are in the right path already. You saw this video, felt inspired by it, and that shows that you are looking for strength and hope in the right place. Keep holding to Jesus as He helps you pass through this storm! Ask Him for Faith, courage and strength. I know it may sound too simple and easy to imagine that if you ask for this it may not make a difference, but that is actually how faith and the God's Grace of God works; ask for it and God will give you that gift of grace! God is love and He LOVES YOU! Ask and receive His gift of grace upon your circumstances and say THANK YOU for giving me what I need to go through this! We pray for you right now for God's grace and strength and courage as you journey through your situation. Peace!
Sending you best wishes and positive vibes!

Truly, I believe, the single best acting ever in any movie I have ever seen.
God, I’ve been there. And I always feel better watching this movie with my mum every year. God bless James Stewart for his amazing performance, God bless the writers and director, God bless the gorgeous Donna Read, God bless everyone else involved in this masterpiece and most of all God bless everyone watching this who relates a little bit too much ❤
Bill Bryson said he wasn't in the war like John Wayne. He most certainly was. He was a bomber pilot in WW2, I believe he made it to the rank of General too.
Jesus is the WAY! THE TRUTH! AND THE LIFE!❤
One of the finest moments of acting in movie history.
Surperb, unsurpassed acting. You watch it every year and every year Stewart praying sends shivers down your spine.
this was real acting here and who cut up all these onions
The woman you hear singing is Adriana Caselotti, the original voice actress of Snow White!
Jim Caviezel sent me here.
Theres something about him breaking down among the laughter and music that feels so real. That profound grief can strike anytime and even other peoples happiness can further alienate you
It was real. In the script, George wasn't supposed to cry, but Jimmy broke down thinking about how many people were actually suffering in the world.
@@tammycampbell112 It was very real in the guide post years ago he shared about how the Lord touched him when he prayed the prayer and acted the scene and all of the horrors. He faced in war, and we all know there are a lot, and it was that sort of suffering that he had face that affected his performance. It was his first performance, after being away flying bombers in World War II
TEARS LOOKED LIKE IT CAME FROM HIS SOUL. HE PROBABLY WENT THROUGH HELL IN REAL LIFE.
I don't think he's acting...he's 'being'.
Who hasn't been where George is right now? I get emotional every time I see it.
0:11 *I hear Snow White🩵❤️🤍🎀🍎*
Who’s here after hearing Jim Caviezel mentioning this movie and this scene in particular while promoting his new movie Sound of Freedom
I am so happy and grateful for your hard work, dedication, and spiritual wisdom!
Such a powerful scene and yet so straight to the point. Just an incredible performance from a great actor. Poured everything he had into that role.
when you really ask, you really receive. God won’t let you down.
What is this song called?
Show me the way
This is not a common prayer you hear from your average Bible-thumper, or the sarcastic kind of prayer from an atheist. It's the private, insulated prayer a person speaks in their darkest hour, when it's literally just you and God, alone. Jimmy Stewart knew what he was doing in this scene.
"Show me the way, dear Lord. Please, show me the way...😢😢😢
My favourite movie starring my favourite actor with ‘Snow White’ singing in the background! You can’t get any better than this! ❤
One of the all-time greats. Sincere, honest, sensitive, heartfelt, funny, smart…as good as it gets. Always a supreme pleasure to watch the great Mr. Stewart!
At 0:13 Just Spotted The Woman in the back who did the voice of Snow White.
